It being summer and all, I’ve relinquished my membership to the I-only-wear-black club. I’ve stopped wearing my chains, black tights and combat boots and exchanged them for free flowing skirts, aviator sunglasses, and jean cutoffs. But Alas, oh how I miss my edgier side! I want to wear black again! My addiction to black stemmed from one person in particular, Effy Stonem (from Skins). I’ve done posts about her before, but previously I could only find one photo of the badass actress, Kaya Scodelario. Here are more photos of the one and only–Kaya Scodelario/Effy Stonem.

Kaya Scodelario–new favorite bad ass

While Leighton and Kaya might both be beautiful burnettes, their character’s styles couldn’t be more different.  Being an American myself, I had never heard of the British teen drama Skins.  One of my close friends got me into the show the week of midterms. I watched the first two seasons before I flew to California for Spring break sadly resulting mediocre mid term grades…oh well… Anyways, The show is completely addicting.  It engulfs it’s audience into a world of teenage issues like drugs, sex, alcohol, eating disorders and family drama in the town of Bristol.  It’s basically like the British version of Gossip Girl or the OC without the pretentious rich kids.  The directors of Skins decided to give the show a new vision in the third season opting for an almost entirely new cast. The only two cast members who manage to stand their ground are Tony Stonem’s younger sister Elizabeth (Effy) Stonem and her friend Pandora.  Effy Stonem is played by Kaya Scodelario.  She is a drop dead gorgeous 16 year old who doesn’t care what anybody else thinks. She is the stereotypical rebellious teenager.  In the show’s third season, through a variety of family issues she manages to reveal herself to the audience. We can finally look past the icy, cold exterior and begin to realize there is an actual caring human being behind all the black eyeliner and pretty pouting. Recently, I’ve been attempting to copy Effy’s character style with a little bit less attitude. I couldn’t find as many pictures of her look as I would like, but here’s one picture that pretty much captures it.
