Fashionable Couple: Kate Bosworth and James Rousseau

Stylish starlets are one thing, but when their boyfriends share their talent for chic dressing the couple seriously deserves some praise. One of my favorite fashionable actresses, Kate Bosworth and her boyfriend model James Rousseau are a perfect example of a well-dressed couple. Both Kate and James know how to dress for any occasion-whether they’re grocery shopping or going to an awards show, the couple always looks perfectly put together.  Here are some of the couple’s best looks…

Of the Moment 2…

Ok so here are some more of my current obsessions…as I am still in Nantucket and the sun has yet to come out for more than a few hours…

1st obsession: the new Vogue shoot with Cameron Diaz-June Issue

While the magazine may be a timeless classic, no offense to Anna Wintour, but in recent years it has been severely lacking.  Attempting to bring more culture into the magazine with the addition of articles such as workings of an underrated Soho artist or scientific research on the newest beauty frontier, Vogue has seemed to have strayed from the magazine’s priority–fashion. I think the magazine should leave beauty investigation and artistic reviewing to sister mags and drift back into strictly fashion.  In recessionary times such as these, a girl needs her Vogue to keep level headed (as contradictory as that may sound).

Enough criticism, In Vogue’s most recent issue, one aspect really stood out in my mind–Cameron Diaz’s photo shoot.  The photographers manage to play up Cameron’s easygoing Californian way of life.  In all of the photographs, Cameron is wearing organic clothing.  The creamy white hues look sensational with her tanned skin and blonde tresses.  The set of the shoot was just as amazing as Cameron Diaz herself.  The Parker hotel in Palm Springs is a place I urge you to visit. I visited the hotel last spring with my mother on our spa trip to the desert. While the place was out of our price range, we managed to venture there for brunch.  Upon entering the lobby, It’s as if every piece of the hotel was hand picked for the location. With retro chic furniture, desert hot heat, and absolute luxury, the hotel should been seen as a hot spot destination for anyone planning a trip to Palm Springs.

2nd obsession: Stars wearing Rodarte on the red carpet…

Staying true to my fellow Pasadena natives, I’d like to point out some recent Rodarte sightings.

3rd Obsession: Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christenson in Paris

I’ve always loved Rachel Bilson’s style, but the two of them together? In paris? It’s all just too much.  She’s somehow evolved her style into perfectly Parisian chic.

Cruel Summer: Blestenation Bosworth

Being a californian, with Summer comes surfing.  While surfing isn’t exactly my forte, I’m constantly encouraged to paddle harder, kick faster, and stay out longer because of the appeal that comes with being a surfer girl. I’m not talking about the six pack abs, toned arms, or the golden tan. I want the carefree existence, the go hard or go home mentality and the connection to nature. The best example of this intriguing ideal is the inspiring surfer chick flick Blue Crush. Kate Bosworth stars as Annamarie Chadwick.  With rock hard abs and the perfect tan, Annamarie was fearless.  After riding the perfect wave at Pipe Masters at the end of the film, AnnaMarie catipults herself into the surfing spotlight.  While Annamarie may have scored a deal with Billabong, Kate managed to land roles in several high budget films launching her career.  Kate Bosworth has sadly moved away from her surfer girl image into a classy sophisticated woman.  I may be sad to see the surfer girl long gone, but I’m happy to see the stylish woman Kate has become.  Kate still manages to live a laid-back surfer-esque lifestyle, just without the bikini and board shorts.  Here are some of her best looks…

Rainy Day Women

The old saying “April Showers Bring May Flowers” could not be more correct. We’ve only had four days of April, but here in Boston  we’re seeing more and more wet weather. I think rain is probably one of the most confusing weather conditions to dress for. You don’t know if it’s cold rain, hot rain or somewhere in between. Frizzy hair, patchy skin, wet clothes, drippy makeup…these symptoms don’t seem too appealing. Sadly, they are the side effects of rainy weather.  While these unfortunate results of rain seem unavoidable, there are ways to still look great in the rain.  Just look at how these ladies prepare for rainy weather…
