A man’s watch–I love the look of an oversized men’s watch on a delicate female wrist. I tried on the watch of my friend Travis (Michael Kors) and fell in love.

Trend: Velvet

While I always thought of velvet as a fabric for older women, this month’s issue of Vogue says otherwise. With young designers such as Alexander Wang designing hip velvet bomber jackets, velvet has become the new obsession for Fall.

Grai: Designer Profile

Looking at gorgeous leather jackets in Opening Ceremony, I stumbled upon many up and coming designers.  My favorite jacket-maker had to be Grai.  The designer of Grai is Maya Yogev, a Los Angeles native.  Yogev has a pretty substantial background in design.  After fashion school in 2002, she worked under the designer, Rick Owens. At one point in her life, Yogev even designed a line of clothing for the band Black Sabbath.  Yogev’s line Grai was created to craft the perfect jackets and coats.  Yogev blends buttery leathers with harsher fabrics crafting beautiful textures and patterns. She drapes her jacket fabrics to look like sculptures. Her draping is not unlike that of Kate and Laura Mulleavy’s.  The collars on her coats are so amazing.  Imagine a sweater’s cowl neck on a leather jacket! Each seam is meticulously sewn as if to seem like the jacket is a piece of nature and can never be taken apart.

Speaking of YSL

Everything Yves Saint Laurent makes is beautiful, but I’m especially talking about their accessories. My mom just bought these new shoes from YSL. I seriously love them. The neutral color makes legs look miles long. Plus, the platform is just the right amount of crazy. I don’t when I’m going to EVER be able to borrow them! Most likely, never!

I also just love the YSL Besace Flap Bag Sienna Miller has been carrying around. I love a great gray bag. It looks very functional with the cute strap detailing on the front.

Summer Rain

With temperatures soaring to the high 90’s, It’s hard for me to imagine it raining anytime soon. But of course, we all know that when shopping we find things that aren’t always right for the current season. We have to use our fashion sense/intuition and plan ahead! I recently stumbled into the RVCA store on Haight in San Francisco and found the most amazing rain jacket! While it’s not exactly right for Pasadena, it’s just perfect for Boston!  After attending a Snoop Dogg concert in Orange County a few weeks ago and seeing every OC bro wearing the RVCA logo across his chest, I had penned the line as something like Volcom or Quicksilver.  They make surfer/skater wear that is very wearable, but nothing new.  I was very wrong! I mean seriously, Erin Wasson has a collection for the women’s line of RVCA.  Anyways, here are some pictures of the glorious rain jacket I found. I love it in yellow. The fit was great too! You can also check out the jacket on Fashiontoast.com! The writer is modeling it!

Behold Barney’s!

While Barney’s is my all time FAVORITE store, I don’t get to visit the clothing mecca very often. This weekend, I took another trip up to San Francisco and managed to sneak into the Barney’s in Union Square. Since I’m not a frequent visitor, I make sure to savor my Barney’s trips as if they were my last bite of Pinkberry. I take the time to carefully browse through each piece of clothing–basking in each piece’s unique, innovative design, running my fingers over the rare, elegant fabrics, and memorizing the names of the store’s newly carried designers. This time, I even managed to bring my iphone and snap some pictures along the way…here are some amazing pieces from Barney’s I snapped and some that I wish I snapped (thus, I took pictures from the website)…

The Perfect Boyfriend Jean…
July 13, 2009, 2:10 am

Have you guys ever tried looking for the perfect pair of baggy pants? I’m not talking about your average great fit jean, nor am I referring to the goes-with-everything skinny.  I mean the perfect pair of slouchy, but flattering jeans.  The jeans that you can throw on at anytime. The jeans that look like you picked them off your boyfriend’s apartment floor, but they manage to fit you in that sexy, disheveled sort of way. The pair that are comfortable, casual and completely stylish.  Well, I swear I have found them.  Ladies, if you have an ass it’s ok, if you don’t have an ass it’s also ok.  If your legs aren’t perfectly toned or skinny, or if they are, it’s all ok, because these pants are perfect for all of you.  I recently stumbled upon an amazing 70% off boutique sale this weekend and realized just how great Current/Elliot jeans really are.  While they may be expensive (I got mine on sale!), they’re well worth it. If you’re looking for the perfect boyfriend jean, Current/Elliot is your brand.

Fashionista Fridays

Do you ever have those days were nothing really makes sense? You want to write a post, something worthwhile, well-organized, targeted, but nothing seems to come together? I’ve been having one of those days. I’ve been scouring fashion blogs since yesterday morning and I can’t seem to centralize my ideas. So because many of my fridays spent blogging unfold in this manner, I’ve decided to dedicate a day to pure randomness which will now be forever known as “Fashionista Fridays.” All of the clutter that can’t be centralized into one post will be posted here.  Without further adieu, here is a list of random obsessions in no particular order–
